Hope that outlasts the headlines

Our tears are real and our hope is too

Reader,

It's been a heavy week.

I didn't know Charlie Kirk personally, but his death has been the elephant in every room and conversation over the last several days.

I've struggled to process the overwhelming number of emotions and headlines that bombard me 24/7, and I've been searching for hope amidst such despair. Maybe you feel that way, too.

In this article, "How to Grieve with Hope after the Loss of Charlie Kirk," I'm sharing how we can grieve with hope, knowing our hope is living (1 Pet. 1:3), anchored (Heb. 6:19), and eternal (2 Cor. 4:17).

If you've also experienced the tidal wave of emotions after his tragic death, I hope this article will steady your heart and anchor your soul.

Through stories of familiar biblical characters, you’ll learn about holy leisure, the unhurried, grace-filled rhythm of resting in God’s presence and savoring his Word. There is therefore now no condemnation! Reader, Happy New Year! This year, I'm making Scripture memory a priority. I've never been very good at it, and I've let that be my thin excuse for not trying very hard. So, to reverse that, I've decided to bite off more than I can chew. ;) I'm memorizing Romans 8 this year! Martin Luther once famously likened the Bible to a ring, the epistle of Romans to its diamond, and chapter eight, the sparkling point of the jewel. One of the benefits of...

Have yourself a blessed little Christmas Reader, You've probably heard the song "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" hundreds of times. It's a tender song that pulls on our heartstrings for peace, togetherness, and ease of trouble. But did you know that song was released in 1944, during WWII, when many soldiers were leaving behind the comforts of home for the ravages of war? The song points to a future hope that "From now on, our troubles will be out of sight." There's another song in the...
