๐ŸŽ‡2024 Wrapped: Top 10 Blog Posts + a Book Update

My top 10 posts for 2024 and an update

Reader,

I know it sounds cliche, but how can we be in 2025? Today begins the first whole week of the year, but I hope it's not too late to do a review of the year past. In David Letterman's style, I like to compile the Top 10 articles of the previous year. It's a walk down memory lane for me, and hopefully, it refreshes your heart, too. Inside, you'll find a lot from 1 Peter, a little from politics, and even a celebrity sighting.

Now for an update...

Last fall, I announced that I had signed my first book contract. The working title is "Pursuing Holy Leisure: Enjoying God in Everyday Places." This was certainly one of the biggest highlights of my year and a dream come true. But I've realized it's a funny dream to have, like signing up to climb Mount Everest. You know it will test your resolve and stretch your muscles to the limit. It might even bring you tears.

Eventually, you'll reach the summit, but having never been there, you can't imagine what it will look and feel like. I'm sure it will all be worth it, and I look forward to the day when I can look back and see how far I've climbed. Last week, I reached the 40% completion mark. It feels good to be here, but there's still a lot of ground to cover. Mentally, my sights are set on 50%---that seems like the crest of the hill (maybe?).

This book project is never far from my thoughts; even when I'm not writing, it even infiltrates my dreams. It's such a sanctifying process, and I love that I *get* to do it. I'm learning so much, and the Lord always meets me in it. Like every workout, it's a good burn.

I think about you all as I write. I pray it will produce good fruit for all who read it. I covet your prayers for clarity and increased speed if you think about it.

Speaking of prayers, please feel free to hit "reply" and let me know how I can pray for you in 2025. It's always my pleasure to do so.

Know Your (Teenage) Child's Frame

Parents of teens (or preteens), this is for you! Reader, This weekend, we celebrate the awesome Dads and Husbands among us. (Happy Father's Day to you if you're a father! We appreciate you!)I wrote this article for Desiring God this week, and it equally applies to Mothers and Fathers. Does any phrase more frequently capture the heart of Christ for his children than "he was moved with compassion"? It's the compassionate heart of a Father not to move away from his difficult children, but to...

Our Mother's Day Hope Reader, I know Mother's Day brings a host of emotions with it. You might be in a hard, unfulfilling season filled with insecurities, and you wonder... Can I be a good mom? Am I a good mom? Will they remember me as a good mom? But I've learned that as soon as you've figured out one season, it changes. The seasonal aspect of motherhood means that while some seasons are for planting or watering, others are for harvest. And there's hope for you and me in whatever season is...
